AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers of 2023
Now in its 100th year, AIGA is delighted to usher in its annual 50 Books | 50 Covers competition, which recognizes the best in book and book cover design. Starting in 1923 as the Fifty Books of the Year competition, this time-honored competition aims to identify the 50 best-designed books and book covers published between January and December. Entries are open to the public for print and digital books published and used in the marketplace in 2023. The juror-selections from the AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers competition will exemplify the best current work in book and book cover design from around the globe. Winners will become part of the AIGA Collection at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia University’s Butler Library in New York City and published in a gallery on AIGA’s website. View the 50 Books | 50 Covers of 2022 winners gallery.

"As a book designer, book lover, and book collector, I'm honored and thrilled to be returning to the 50 Books | 50 Covers jury this year as its Chair. 100 years is a significant milestone for any competition, but at a time when the future of the book is an ongoing topic, we saw last year the vibrancy and vitality of the book form in the hands of both new and expert designers shaping stories that demanded a broader audience with care and commitment. In our recognition, we not only selected for quality but also relevance to our time — why these books were deserving of this award today, and how offering it could help them go even further in finding passionate readers and audiences. It's been said that 'books make friends' — as much as this is a competition about great objects, it's also hopefully a catalyst for new relationships between publishers, creators, and the public."  —Rob Giampietro, Head of Creative, Notion (50 Books | 50 Covers Juror Chair)

365: AIGA Year in Design (2023)
AIGA is committed to creating pathways for designers to showcase their work. 365: AIGA Year in Design is a 360-degree view of design over 365 days during the 2023 calendar year. This competition publicly celebrates designers, design teams, and their clients for effectively working together to design creative solutions for challenges presented by businesses and organizations. Designers are key to solving complex problems, especially now as companies large and small are forced to adapt, pivot, or reinvent themselves to stay relevant. View the 2022 winners gallery.

"After many years of membership, we are thrilled to be recognized by our peers within AIGA for our work with Oracle. We're a small firm who worked hard to make the most of this remarkable opportunity for a global entity and it's very satisfying to add this respected recognition to our firm's story." —Susanne Harrington, Principal, Asterisk

“365: AIGA Year in Design competition is an exciting recognition of the important role of graphic design in creating culture.” —Shannon Harvey, Principal, IN-FO.CO

Jurors will be announced in 2024. Work selected by jurors will chronicle the contributions of design and designers to business and visual culture. Winners will be announced in the fall.
