Panel: Re-imagining the design classroom from the perspective of othered identities

An opportunity to locate design educators in their selves and center a discussion around who they are, what experiences have impacted how and why they teach, and how they may bring their “Othered” identity to their work. Specifically, our intentions are discuss the experience and strategies of educators outside of the traditional design canon and look at design education through the lens of Black, Indigenous, people of color, queer, disabled, and immigrant bodies. And how representing these identities in the classroom may give students the opportunity to imagine new worlds.
