Welcome and Introduction

Filmed on October 18, 2016 at the 2016 AIGA Design Conference

As the partner of HUSH, a experience design firm that blends the worlds of physical and digital, David Schwarz introduces us to the Digital Craft Symposium by introducing its overarching themes: dynamism, systems, and constraint. Though digital and craft may sound like a oxymoron, Schwarz walks us through the beautiful dance of digital, which liberates us from the physical, and craft, with its old world sentiment, that constitute contemporary design.

David Schwarz is an award-winning creative leader and founding partner of HUSH, a design agency. He’s spent his career designing brand experiences that integrate content, interactivity, architecture, and technology. After graduating from ArtCenter College of Design, he worked for notable creative studios, interactive agencies, and design firms in Los Angeles and New York. Since founding HUSH, he has developed numerous projects across sport, luxury, beauty, technology, and entertainment categories, most notably: Nike, Sonos, Equinox, Estée Lauder, Google, Ted Baker, and Uber.

Schwarz has been featured in numerous publications including Creativity, Fast Company, Inc. magazine, Communication Arts, and has spoken at conferences for AIGA, The One Show, SEGD, SXSW, Adweek, Cannes Lions, and several others. He is also a mentor at NEW INC, the New Museum’s incubator program for art, technology, and design.
