Get a glimpse into some early-days work at Facebook, designed to help people come together to make a positive social impact. In this presentation, Luke Woods shares the stories behind three products—Safety Check, Suicide Prevention, and fundraisers for nonprofits—and highlight learnings to consider in day-to-day work.

In his role at Facebook, Luke Woods and his teams have shipped products including Messenger, Internet.org, and Safety Check, while helping Facebook reach a community of more than one billion people each day. He joined Facebook in 2011 and has been head of product design since March 2015.

Prior to Facebook, Woods spent three years at IDEO in San Francisco and Chicago. Before IDEO, he spent seven years studying, receiving his B.S. in digital design from the University of Cincinnati and his M.F.A. in interactive design from the University of Washington, as well as studying abroad in Basel, Switzerland. Woods is passionate about coaching, creating process, and designing impactful products. In his spare time he enjoys running, cooking, and photography.
