Artist Statement While there has been an increase in voting by the Hispanic population, there is still a large percentage that isn't even registered to vote. My intention is to appeal to the Hispanic population through "papel picado", an ornamental papercut motif. I chose the central image of raised fists, a politically-charged image, to symbolize strength in numbers.
