Bio

In 1993, using her graphic design experience to open her own design firm in Pittsburgh, Karen served as Creative Director for A.S.A, CNG, Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium and The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Her signage program for the Pittsburgh Zoo won numerous awards and was selected by Graphis Magazine for inclusion in Graphic Corporate Identity 3, and is included in the design book Giant Graphics, compiled by David Carter.

In 1997, Karen was recruited by élan communications, a division of Exhibitgroup/Giltspur, to help start up their new design division. Here she served as a core information architect, acting as a project manager, team leader and senior designer.

Karen continued her interest in environmental graphics even further as senior designer at Apple Designs, Inc. in Florida where she worked on the Los Angeles Airport (LAX), Tom Bradley International Terminal expansion and the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport signage systems.

In 2000 Karen joined the The Douglas|Group in Washington, DC as head of the Graphics Division, she enjoyed a multitude of projects including brochure, web, signage and exhibit design work.

Karen worked as a Senior Designer at The PRD Group, Ltd in Chantilly, VA for ten years from 2003-2013. Clients included the George W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum, Washington & Lee University, the Smithsonian Institution, Mount Auburn Cemetery, United States Botanic Gardens, Virginia Historical Society, East Tennessee Historical Society, Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Missouri Historical Society, and the Fort Pitt Museum.

Karen's next goal is a Masters in Museum Studies through the online studies program at Johns Hopkins University.
