Bio

Laura Schoenthaler holds Bachelor and Master degrees in the fields of industrial and sustainable design from Savannah College of Art and Design, and currently attends the Wake Forest University School of Law. She practices industrial and exhibit design as a consultant and educator, specializing in the sustainable design of products, systems, and environments. Schoenthaler actively participates in providing education opportunities to increase awareness of sustainable practices. In 2011, she began teaching Continuing Education at Savannah College of Art and Design and is currently employed as an Adjunct Professor instructing students in Drafting and Design at ITT Technical Institute in Raleigh, NC. Previously she was a faculty member at ITT Technical Institute in Orlando, FL.

Schoenthaler, a strong advocate for the sustainable development of urban environments, has contributed significant time and effort to the ongoing Waters Avenue Revitalization Project in Savannah, GA. Additionally, Schoenthaler has progressed her consulting endeavors by initiating collaborations and providing consulting to a number of clients in a variety of industries. A sampling of notable partnerships includes Rapid Pathogen Screening, Inc. (Biotechnology), Chick-Fil-A (Restaurant), and 24-e (Retail). 

Schoenthaler’s keen interest in sustainability is responsible for her dedication to an unwavering personal and professional philosophy of integrating responsible design and sustainable lifestyle choices, which are seated at the foundational level of her research and design development. Her innovative designs seek not just to minimize or eliminate negative ecological impact, but utilize purposeful material choices to enhance the symbiotic environment-human interrelationship. Schoenthaler is a Member of IDSA – Industrial Designers Society of America.
