Bio

Johnny Jenkins Jr. holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Western Michigan University and has served as the creative director and principal of NoirAmerica, a graphic design and communications firm he founded. He is an accomplished spoken word artist (known as JyObadele), and currently serves as the resident host/co-producer of the EchoVerse Poetry and Slam Series.

Johnny Jenkins Jr. is a highly regarded social justice activist and organizer. He has over fifteen years of experience and accomplishments working toward equality. He is a founder of Detroit’s Hotter Than July, the oldest annual Black pride celebration in the Midwest. He currently serves as the director of programs for a community center in Metropolitan Detroit.
