Bio

Born in Israel, raised in Bolivia. Chantal is Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Rutgers Newark and works independently in NYC. Her practice serves a range of multidisciplinary projects all related to visual communications and design for social impact. Fluent in English and Spanish, she worked as an Art Director for Nissan USA's both American and Hispanic Markets, producing national campaigns broadcasted in TV, print and interactive. She obtained an MFA in Communications Design at Pratt Institute in May of 2012 and focused her thesis on design solutions that support bicultural exchange and immigration reform. During her grad school years at Pratt, she assisted teaching Special Projects courses directly related with her research in social advocacy in design education bringing forth ongoing design+social-engagement collaborative projects. Recurring themes within her latest work include identity, immigrant rights, socio-cultural contradictions, acculturation and language.
