Bio After graduating from California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco, Ali Rashidi started his early career working as a designer and art director at University of California Publications. He established his own design office DesignZone in 1986 in Oakland, California. He moved to Iran in 1990 and co-founded Daarvag International, a distinguished advertising agency now affiliated with DDB, handling various design and advertising projects for prestigious local and international clients such as Unilever, Renault, Kraft Food and Nokia. As an educator, Rashidi has lectured and taught at numerous universities and colleges. His teaching career includes over two decades at graduate school of Tehran Art University. He is the international editor of Neshan, the first Iranian graphic design magazine since 2002. He is a member of AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts), ADC (Art Directors Club) and IGDS (Iranian Graphic Designers Society). Ali has received many prestigious awards in different categories such as packaging design, brochure design, stationary design and poster design. He has served as a jury member for the Sixth Iranian Graphic Design Biennial, the Eighth Tehran International Poster Biennial and Ninth Iranian Graphic Design Biennial. He was nominated by KAK—the Russian graphic design magazine—as a guest editor for the especial issue on Iranian graphic design on spring of 2005.
