New York (December 17, 2020) - Starting in 1923, the Fifty Books of the Year competition quickly became an annual event for AIGA. As book design evolved and dust jackets became more common, covers were added to the competition. Now, AIGA is once again delighted to usher in another year of amazing book and cover design.

Even in an era of digital books and Insta stories, AIGA appreciates the timeless, magnetic power of design to encourage readers to turn the page and communicate difficult literary themes in accessible visuals. That is why the 50 Books | 50 Covers competition continues to honor the best of book and book cover design.

This time-honored competition assembles a panel of jurors each year and aims to identify the 50 best-designed books and book covers published between January and December. The juror-selections from the 50 Books | 50 Covers competition exemplify the best current work in book and book cover design. Entries are open to anyone for books published and used in the marketplace in 2020.
