Roymieco A. Carter, M.F.A. is an Associate Professor of Design, in the Visual Arts Program of North Carolina A&T State University. He completed a BFA in Art at Virginia Commonwealth University and he received his MFA from Penn State University. Carter focused his career in Advertising and Art Direction. In his career, he has worked on creative teams for several major brands as well as community based organizations. He often utilizes his communication design background to express visual reflections of culture and identity in his practice as fine art. His gallery work uses a mixture of digital and hand based techniques including collage, drawing, xerography, stenciling and typography.

As Roy continues to find new ways to teach concepts of relevance, specificity and appropriateness to undergraduate designers and artist. He remains active as a graphic designer of print, web, and motion-based media with more than 25 years of commercial experience. He currently teaches courses in advertising, typography, interaction design, visual literacy, and social criticism. He has written articles on graphic design education, art education, gaming, human computer interaction, graphics computer animation, and critical theory.
