AIGA/NY 30th Anniversary Poster Exhibition

June 1–August 1, 2012

On view at the AIGA National Design Center

Local designers pay homage to three decades of inspiration from AIGA New York

2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the New York chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design. As part of a month-long celebration and series of events commemorating the chapter’s first 30 years, AIGA/NY asked 30 New York City design stars to each create a poster for the festivities “capturing your personal experience with the AIGA NY chapter."

The posters were designed by a stellar list of designers and firms, including Michael Bierut, Matteo Bologna, Ken Carbone, Ivan Chermayeff, Milton Glaser, Maira Kalman, Debbie Millman and Paula Scher—see the full list of contributing designers. Cool Hunting noted that “Design-wise, the limited-edition posters are as eclectic as the city, genre, and organization they celebrate.”

This AIGA/NY 30th Anniversary pop-up exhibition at the AIGA National Design Center in Manhattan is your chance to see the poster series in person and make a purchase on the spot! The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Posters will be available for sale in the gallery and on Etsy, including signed editions. The proceeds will benefit AIGA/NY—a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational institution whose mission is to identify and define issues critical to its membership and the design profession, to explore and clarify these issues for the purpose of helping to elevate the standards of the business of design, and to create a forum for the exchange of information, views, ideas and techniques among those engaged in the profession.
