              Choose from one of several optional workshops to learn more about a design technique, product, or practice area.

                Your daily opportunity to connect with fellow attendees in conversation about the topics that are important to you. Drop in at any point and pick a topic that interests you.

                  An Introduction to Type Design with Radek Sidun

                  Bring a typeface you have always wanted to make, and move it from analog to digital or from vectors to glyphs. Get precise guidance from Radek Sidun, creator of Manual of Diacritics and dozens of misbehaving letterforms at BriefcaseType.

                  If you registered for this studio, plan to attend from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily from Thursday to Saturday. 

                  This session requires pre-registration with fee and is limited in size. It will not be recorded. 

                    Celebrating All Types with Partners in Print

                    Imagine a more inclusive future by working with design tools from the past. Press for change by participating in Celebrating All Types — a letterpress movement inspiring reflection and civic action with handset wood type and ink! 

                    This session requires pre-registration and a materials fee. It will not be recorded. 

                      Handmade Scripts with Petra Dočekalová

                      Hand lettering should be fun and easy. With the right tools and the right teacher you too can make everything feel like a 1980's middle America Grocery Store... Learn how to write fast to get great scripts that you can use in your work and turn into vectors. 

                      But really there's more—every person who registers for this workshop gets a set of Petra Pens. This is taught by Petra Dočekalová The Director of Quality at BriefcaseType.

                       

                      Pre-registration and a materials fee is required to attend. The session will not be recorded.

                        Hands-on in the Hot Shop with Seattle Glassblowing Studio

                        Join your fellow designers for a one-of-a-kind offsite experience. Attendees will go  hands-on in the Seattle Glassblowing Studio hot shop, choosing their own glass shapes and color applications and utilizing proper blowing techniques to create a piece of glass artwork that is theirs to keep after the cooling period. Attendees will work with an experienced glassblower throughout the session. Typical shape options include ornaments, seafloats and bowls.

                        Pre-registration is and a materials fee is required to attend. It is approximately 15 minutes walking from the Seattle Convention Center. 

                         

                          Our symposia are topic-specific deep dives across four distinct topics featuring industry experts as curators and hosts.

                          This session will be recorded and available exclusively to attendees post-event. Pre-registration is not required.
