Designing websites is getting more and more complex, from design considerations
to technical and functional approaches. It used to be we only had a couple of platforms and a few browsers to consider. Now there are a multitude of devices, screen sizes, platforms, browsers and gestural interfaces to think about when designing for the web. Even the concept of the web itself is changing in this age of the Cloud and networked objects.
In this webinar, moderator Callie Neylan will lead a discussion with Dan Mall, art director at Big Spaceship, and Scott Fegette, product manager for Dreamweaver at Adobe Systems, about these factors and the emerging technologies designers can use to create successful web experiences, regardless of the context.

Dan Mall is an award-winning art director and designer. Having worked with clients like Google, Microsoft, GE, Wrigley, The Mozilla Foundation, Thomson Reuters and The Sherwin-Williams Company, Dan has a passion for playing matchmaker between surprising art direction and intuitive interaction design. He has written for notable publications like A List Apart and .NET Magazine and presented at SXSW, An Event Apart and Future of Web Design. He has also taught advertising at the Miami Ad School; web and graphic design at the University of the Arts; and Flash at the School of Visual Arts.
Dan is an art director at digital creative agency Big Spaceship. Dan was formerly the interactive director at Happy Cog, a web design agency in New York City, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. He’s a technical editor for A List Apart, co-founder of Typedia, and singer/keyboard-player for contemporary-Christian band Four24. Dan writes about design and other issues on Twitter and his website, danielmall.com.
Scott Fegette is the technical product manager for Dreamweaver at Adobe. Before joining the Dreamweaver team, he was both a Flash Video evangelist and an engineering manager on the Macromedia web team, responsible for building the site infrastructure, services, and architecture that deliver Adobe.com to this day.
Before coming to Macromedia in 2000, Scott built his skills at web design and development as the director of online services for former Santa Barbara-based software developers MetaCreations, contributing both global site design and server-side framework code, and managing a team of eight designers and developers to support the site. In his spare time, Scott is a professional musician and independent photographer/videographer.
is a designer, researcher and writer who has worked in visual and
interaction design for renowned design firms Gensler and Teague and
nonprofit media organization NPR. She has served as adjunct faculty at
the University of Washington and MICA (Maryland Institute College of
Art), teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in design. She
is an award-winning designer whose work has been recognized by Communication Arts, I.D. and AIGA, and featured in The New York Times, Fast Company and on Gizmodo.
Callie holds an MFA in design from the University of Washington in
Seattle and is currently an assistant design professor at UMBC
(University of Maryland, Baltimore County) in Baltimore. Her research
interests focus on the aesthetics of interaction design.
