Bio

Jimmy Ball specializes in UX/UI design for mobile and tablet devices, connected vehicles, as well as the design and production of high quality photographic and illustrated books, editorial design, annual reports and a wide range of printed collateral materials. Combining decades of experience in design and production means I can deliver award-winning work on-time and on-budget while meeting – and in most cases exceeding – marketing objectives.

I have been chosen as one of GD USA magazines People to Watch in 2012. My work has been recognized for design excellence by Graphis, HOW Books/Rotovision, The Society of Publication Designers, Rockport Publishing, IdN Magazine, W3 awards, multiple GD USA magazine award annuals, ADDYs, DSVC show, Create Magazine and many others. I am also a judge for national and regional design work in print, interactive and motion, including the ADDYs, Communicator, Davey and W3 web awards.

I’ve done work for American Airlines, Brinker International, Cider Mill Press, Club Corp, Disney, Dunn and Brown Contemporary, Ericsson, Frito Lay, Kiewit, Neiman Marcus, Michaels, Nokia, Pizza Hut, Sabre, Sally Beauty, The Image Bank, Thomas Group, UNT Press, Verizon, most major Automotive OEMs, and many local or national non-profits and associations.

I have a B.A. in Communication/Advertising with a minor in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am a professional member of the AIGA, and served as the AIGA DFW chapter president from 2009-2011.

I think the e-versions of books in their various forms and the surge of pick-a-size self-published template books (Bowker recorded roughly 750,000 titles published outside traditional publishing houses last year) will produce, among other things, a overabundance of similarity in format and finish. Books that go beyond, that are done to a level of perfection where the book as object is as much a pleasure to have and hold as it is to read will be more sought after. Books like the Foxy Lady Project (<a href="http://www.foxyladyproject.com" target="_blank">http://www.foxyladyproject.com</a>/), or DJ Stout's mirror cover (under the jacket) of Reflections of a Man, and any of the amazing books by Robert Sabuda shine even brighter
