Why I design: It's addicting. Clients give me their images, thoughts, hopes, fears and goals, I turn those intangibles into well-designed, attractive and functional promotional materials that help them meet their goals, and they smile. We all win.

Volunteering: I currently support Portland Public Schools and non-profit arts organizations with both time and design skills. I served as Membership Chair of the AIGA Portland chapter from 2003-2006.

History: Amy Chan Design was founded in 2001 in Portland, Oregon. Prior to that, I was a senior designer & production artist in the San Francisco office of Pentagram Design (1989-2001), where I worked on annual reports, corporate brochures, paper promotions and other print collateral.

Awards: Working with a stellar group of colleagues, I've gathered awards from Western Art Directors Club, Potlatch Annual Report Show, Print's Regional Design Annual, Communications Arts, The San Francisco Show Type Directors Club, The Rosey Awards, and AR100.

Professional development: Continually expanding knowledge of web design with classes and online training. BFA in Advertising Design from the Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus, Ohio.
