The promising vision of artist and designer, Wesley Corn, originated on the mountaintops of Western North Carolina. The youngest of four children, he was raised by dedicated working class parents with traditional Christian values. Talented older siblings and extended family encouraged his artistic curiosity and creative nature from early childhood. As a very active youth he excelled in school and athletics. Foundation studies at the School of Arts at East Carolina University, a BFA in digital design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a master's degree from The Savannah College Art and Design all contribute to his formal education.
Today as a young adult and proud father Wesley Corn works in his resilient artist studio, a family farmhouse nestled in a quiet mountain valley in the small town of Hendersonville, NC. Immersed within heritage and the beautiful countryside the artist emphasizes a family oriented, optimistic and fun field lifestyle. Always active, perhaps redistributed in his work from youthful experiences as an athlete and lifeguard, the artist utilizes a lateral conceptual process that celebrates contingency and places attention on adversity. This aesthetic welcomes discussion surrounding American privileges, unity, transforming sacrifice, dangerous unselfishness, strengthening institutions and equality. Influenced by personal life and the spirit of culture, technique and philosophy culminate in this artist contemporary concerns and mix media approach that utilize, process, performance, painting, graphic design, and photography.
