Bio

>>Nicholas McMillan, born in 1978, is from Newport News, Virginia and currently calls the gulf coast city of Corpus Christi, TX his home. Prior to pursuing a career in academia, Nicholas completed his BFA in Graphic Design at James Madison University in 2000, spent eight years working as a freelance designer, full-time employee, and business owner in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, and completed his MFA in Graphic Design at SCAD [Savannah College of Art and Design] in August 2010.

>>In January of 2011, Nicholas moved to Houston where he taught and advised graphic design students at the Art Institute of Houston. Two years later, in January of 2013, Nicholas was offered the position of Assistant Professor in Graphic Design at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi where he works to promote collaboration between disciplines and inspire students who choose to study design.

>>Since first exploring the importance of considering multiple perspectives in design education in his graduate thesis, Nicholas continues to write about the increasing capacity of education and the difficulties students and faculty will face in the future. Moving forward, Nicholas looks to study the impact that regional isolationism has on the designer and higher education.
