Seymour Chwast, with his playful, expressive approach to type and layout, started a new wave of design based on revivalism and helped to formulate a graphic lexicon built from knowledge, appreciation and reapplication of past styles and forms. Chwast's work is widely recognized on posters, in books for children and adults, magazines and advertisements. He is also the recipient of the 1985 AIGA Medal.
