Andy Proehl is manager of Interaction Design at the Sony Design Center.
He joined Sony in 1994, when the company was initiating a move toward networked
entertainment products. The Interactive Design Group's projects have included
digital and satellite TV interfaces, AV software for Sony PCs, websites
and networked home-audio products. The group splits its time between current
product offerings and strategic research.
Proehl was involved in the launch of the sony.com website and has helped
coordinate its design strategy. The group's biggest current project is a
digital cable user interface for a U.S. cable company. Proehl recently relocated
to San Francisco to help build Sony's West Coast design office. Before joining
Sony, Proehl worked in New York as an interactive exhibit designer at Edwin
Schlossberg Incorporated. He has a masters degree in design and a bachelors
degree in architecture.
