W. Bradford Paley is an interaction designer who concentrates on single-purpose interfaces for both hardware and software. His first computer graphics experiments date from 1973. Paley developed some of the earliest significant Financial Data Visualization programs starting in 1989 and invented and deployed special-purpose interface devices for virtual reality (the Cricket, a three-dimensional mouse) and animation (the Monkey, a position-sensing doll). He founded Digital Image Design Incorporated in 1984 to pursue applied research in computer graphics.

Paley and DID's work in ubiquitous computing started in 1990 with research and a device proposal funded by Lehman Bros., and includes the design of tiny "point of use" advertising devices for Saatchi & Saatchi and Procter & Gamble in 1994. DID recently deployed a hand-held device with innovative interface design for Goldman Sachs' use on the New York Stock Exchange trading floor, and is working on other "One-Use Computers" with a variety of clients.
