  • AIGA and Aquent provide designers with career development opportunities

Partnership will provide industry insights, career advice and compensation analysis to members and broader design community

NEW YORK—June 18, 2012. AIGA, the professional association for design, and Aquent, a global staffing organization dedicated to creative, marketing and digital roles for Fortune 1000 organizations, today announced a formal partnership that will provide designers with new professional development opportunities.

For more than a decade, Aquent has supported the design community as the Official AIGA Sponsor for Professional Development. This year, AIGA and Aquent have expanded their longstanding partnership to provide AIGA members and the broader design community with these new resources:

    Industry Insights: Career development webinars

Moderated by Fast Company contributor Alissa Walker, this six-part webinar series will provide participants with insights from industry experts working within six rapidly growing sectors: consumer packaged goods, energy, finance, healthcare, media and entertainment, and technology.

Ask Aquent: Live Q+A sessions with career experts

Starting next week, Aquent recruiters will host monthly Q+A sessions to respond to AIGA members’ most pressing career questions. From building an online portfolio that will get you noticed to a behind-the-scenes look at the hiring process, Aquent recruiters will be available live to offer advice to designers looking to take their careers to the next level.

    Annual design compensation survey

Available in July 2012, the AIGA|Aquent Survey of Design Salaries will feature interactive maps, visual explorations, advice and a personalized salary calculator. To see the 2011 results, visit www.aiga.org/salary-survey.

“Every designer needs to have a basic set of tools and skills—from making sure your portfolio represents the full range of your design capabilities to positioning yourself as a leader in your industry,” said AIGA executive director Richard Grefé. “We’re partnering with Aquent to provide information and advice because their agents have such a unique combination of talent management experience and industry-specific knowledge to share with the creative community.”

“AIGA’s strong network of design professionals allows us to work closely to provide professional development advice to those looking to advance their careers, learn more about the job market and what they need to do to keep their skills sharp,” said Tracy Sinclair, vice president of marketing for Aquent.
