Franchise: The Right to Vote (1of 3)
Submitted By Diane Zatz
Chapter Philadelphia
Description #1 in a a series of three historic images from the Library of Congress, inspired by the word "franchise" and the struggle of women to be "set free." Franchise is a word often associated with a marketing license, or as sports slang to describe a talented player. Enfranchise is more importantly a powerful verb granting the right to vote–– a synonym for freedom.
