  • Webcast: Meaningful design

    September 26, 2013
    2:00 p.m. Eastern / 11:00 a.m. Pacific

Part of the “AIGA Voices” series of webcasts featuring thoughtful and influential designers—including AIGA board members—speaking about a wide range of topics.

Most designers, especially younger designers, want to make change in the world and produce meaningful work. Meaning is an attribute like many other design elements, with a working model that can be used in design strategy as well as business strategy. Nathan will discuss how to deliberately create more meaningful works of design.

This session is open to all; an AIGA membership is not required to attend.

Nathan Shedroff headshotNathan Shedroff, chair of the M.B.A. in Design Strategy program at California College of the Arts in San Francisco

Nathan is a pioneer in experience design, interaction design and information design; speaks and teaches internationally; and is an accomplished entrepreneur. His many books include Experience Design 1.1, Making Meaning, Design is the Problem, Design Strategy in Action and the new Make It So.

He holds an M.B.A. in sustainable management from Presidio Graduate School and a B.S. in industrial design from Art Center College of Design. He worked with Richard Saul Wurman at The Understanding Business and later co-founded vivid studios, a pioneering company in interactive media and one of the first web services firms on the planet. Vivid’s hallmark was helping to establish and validate the field of information architecture by training an entire generation of designers in the newly emerging web industry.

Nathan is on the board of directors for Teague and AIGA.
