Full-time faculty membership

In acknowledgment of the evangelical role that many faculty members play, and specifically in response to requests from our member educators, AIGA offers a membership category for full-time faculty.

Full-time faculty may apply for this category by:

  • Completing the attached PDF and
  • Submitting a letter on university letterhead from their department chair or academic dean verifying their full-time status.

The letter and application must be faxed together to 212 255 4410, attn: Membership. This membership category is not available through the online application.

Each year when renewing, a new letter must be provided from the department chair or academic dean verifying full-time status.

These members will be asked to formally agree to:

  • Introduce their students to AIGA
  • Bring students' attention to benefits available to them as a way of recruiting membership

Annual dues: $110
Benefits include voting for board of directors, 365: AIGA Year in Design annual

Part-time and adjunct faculty members are not eligible for this membership, even though they also serve the important role of introducing students to AIGA. The reasons for this are: part-time and adjunct faculty usually have other sources of professional income; they are more likely to be able to take a business deduction for their membership in their professional role; they are more likely to result in existing professional members transferring to a lower cost membership as an adjunct professor if they teach at all; and the processing and verification costs for AIGA increase as members shift in and out of this status. To include these classes of educators in the new membership category would make the new category infeasible.

Educators who agree to serve as faculty coordinator for a student group receive a complimentary membership, regardless of employment status.
