The exhibitions will be on display at AIGA’s National Design Center at 164 Fifth Avenue, from September 21 to November 22, 2006.
AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers Exhibition
“AIGA
50 Books/50 Covers Exhibition” is the 2006 juried selection of the
best-designed books and book covers published in 2005.
The Spirit Illuminated:
An exhibition of Qur’anic Illumination
“The Spirit Illuminated: An exhibition of Qur'anic
Illumination” is a collection of 12 double page Tradigital Prints
based on selected openings from the finest medieval Qur’an manuscripts
in Cairo’s Dar al-Kutub (National Library).

Special programming: Qur'anic Illumination

On Thursday, September 21, 2006, 6:00 to 8:00
p.m., visitors can learn about the genesis of “The Spirit
Illuminated” project, the technical challenges encountered and the
way they were solved, directly from the parties involved. A question and
answer session will follow the presentation.

Mr. Faarid Gouverneur Esq., chairman emeritus, Thesaurus
Islamicus Foundation
Mr. Gouverneur is responsible for the original vision for the Editio Electrum
project and has been the guiding force in its development.
Mr. K.S. Kim, managing director, Yon Art
Printing
Mr. Kim joins us to represent Yon Art Printing and in particular its founder
and inspiration, Mr. Zun, whose technical brilliance made the plates on
exhibition possible.
Mr. Daud Sutton, director, Editio Electrum
Mr. Sutton is responsible for all technical aspects of digitally reconstructing
the designs in the work on show.
