AIGA
joins Council on Competitiveness to advocate design’s value
AIGA
is the only design organization to join the Council on Competitiveness,
a group of corporate CEOs, university presidents and labor leaders
committed to the future prosperity of all Americans and enhanced
U.S. competitiveness in the global economy. AIGA’s involvement
is important to strengthen the Council’s recognition of the
value of design thinking and familiarize policy-makers with designers.
Initially, Richard Grefˆ© will represent AIGA; we will seek interested
volunteers in assuming that role in the future.

AIGA’s
Leave No Designer Behind relaunched during hurricane season
As
hurricanes threaten coastal cities, AIGA is mobilizing the community
once again to help designers who may be displaced from homes and
businesses. While AIGA does not provide funds, we can help connect
designers whose lives have been disrupted with others who can provide
housing, studio space, new jobs and equipment. AIGA and Chopping
Block have reactivated the DisplacedDesigner.com
site to provide advice and matching of needs and support for all
designers, not just members.
