Supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP) is an annual online survey and data-management system designed to improve arts-school education through tracking the training, careers and lives of arts graduates. Through examining the skills, locations, degrees, occupations, and debt & earnings of arts alumni, a picture of Included in this survey are students that either studied design in school or translated their arts backgrounds into careers in design. Eleven (11) percent surveyed studied design, and 16 percent of those surveyed work in a design-related field (including web designers, art directors, animators and illustrators)—making design the largest employer of arts alumni outside of arts education.
